The Way of Ascension
The elemental gods walk among us not in body, but in judgment. From time to time, they lift mortals above all others, granting them the mantle of Ascended.
Void Ascended
The Void is the force of stillness and decay, the hand that stills the storm. A Void Ascended is chosen through endless conquest, striking down foe after foe until their dominance is undeniable. In their time of power, their blows carry ruin, and no element can touch them. Yet the Void is heavy, and if they fall too soon, their strength becomes their curse.
Radiance Ascended
The Radiance is the spark of chaos, the surge of energy that breaks order apart. A Radiance Ascended is not chosen by one blow, but by the weight of their fury. When a Void Ascended falls, the gods look not at who struck last, but at who bore the greatest burden of battle. Radiance rises in the one who dealt the greatest harm, who turned the tide through chaos.
Tribunal Ascended
When the gods themselves are divided, they gather as a tribunal. From this court, another champion may rise. The Tribunal chooses mortals who embody the struggle between Void and Radiance. These Ascended may wield any element as a weapon for a brief time, but once chosen, they cannot change until the element fades.
The Fleeting Flame
Ascension lasts one full day, providing 24 hours of divine empowerment. Yet as the hours pass, even the greatest champions begin to wane. Unless they fight, their strength begins to fade. In their final hours, the Ascended may extend their reign through fresh conquest, but never forever. The gods always reclaim their gifts.
Divine Justice
The gods do not tolerate dishonor. Should a champion cheat their way to power by slaying allies or false foes, the gods will smite them instantly. Their glory ends in shame, and they bear a divine curse as a mark of their disgrace.
